Week 10 Recap: Goals, Draws, and a Division Race Getting Tighter by the Week
GTA Soccer League Week 10 Overview
If you’re a soccer player in Toronto, Scarborough, Markham, North York, East York, or Pickering looking for an indoor soccer league where every week actually matters, Week 10 of the GTA Soccer League is the case for it. Three divisions, dozens of goals, and a title race that’s getting sharper by the round — this is the kind of local soccer scene players across the Greater Toronto Area keep coming back to, and Week 10 gave everyone plenty of reasons why.
Division 2 Recap
Top Three Refuse to Slow Down
GSA Alumni FC keeps setting the pace, and Week 10 was no exception — a 5-2 win over Gullit Gang FC, powered by a hat trick from C. Kakaletris, pushed their points total to 21 and their goal difference to a league-best +21. Right behind them, Slime FC picked up their sixth win of the season with a 3-2 result away at CSC, with J. Graham netting twice to continue his strong scoring run. Bafana weren’t far off either, beating S.C.S.C. 3-2 behind another two-goal night from N. Oguonu, who has quietly been one of the most consistent finishers in the division all season. With all three teams separated by just two points, the race for top spot in Division 2 is shaping up to be one of the best storylines left this year.
Division 1 Recap
Title Race Gets More Interesting
Zaspani FC and Rouge River FC put on a genuine three-goal-apiece thriller, finishing 3-3 in a game that had goals from B. Burgess, J. Ajemian, and M. Stevanovski for Zaspani FC, and F. Mohammed, H. Rana, and H. Mohammed for Rouge River FC. That result keeps Zaspani FC at 15 points, two back of league-leaders Slip City FC, who made sure not to slip up themselves — a 2-1 win over Motion Boys, courtesy of goals from J. McFarlane and D. Grierson, kept them out front at 17 points. Motion Boys have had a difficult few weeks, but they’re still competing every game, and a team that keeps showing up like that tends to find its footing.
Division 3 Recap
A Tight Race at the Top
Metro FC continues to breathe down Brill FC’s neck at the top, and a 2-1 win over Brill FC — goals from K. Feroe and R. Parfait — brought them to within three points of first place, with a goal difference that’s the best in the entire division. Scarborough’s Finest kept themselves firmly in the mix too, cruising to a 4-0 win over Markham United behind a two-goal game from M. Perrella. Markham United have been a genuinely solid side all season, and one quiet result on the road doesn’t change that — they’re still sitting comfortably inside a playoff spot.
Around the League
More Wins Worth Knowing
Elsewhere, the results kept coming. Stugatz FC handled Barrio FC 3-0, with T. Zacharakis scoring twice to keep his side firmly in the Division 2 playoff picture. Pique Blinders, who lead the entire league in goals scored, kept that reputation alive with a clean 3-0 win over Rafiki Taka. Durham United made it back-to-back wins with a 3-1 result over We Dem Boys, and G. Gautam continued a scoring streak that’s turning into one of the quiet highlights of the season. La Birk FC also picked up a big three points, beating Watan FC 3-1 behind a goal from F. Achakzai and two teammates.
Draws That Kept Things Honest
Not every game needed a hatful of goals to be worth watching. Kroos Control and Toronto Phoenix FC played out a tight 1-1 draw that could have gone either way in the closing minutes. Unknown FC and Sons of Pitches FC shared the points in a lively 2-2 draw, with A. Brown scoring both goals for Unknown FC. And in one of the feel-good results of the week, Black Aces FC and FC Vern — two sides that have had a tough go of it this season — battled to a 1-1 draw, with M. Gackowski and O. Uddin trading goals. Both teams have shown real fight in games that haven’t always gone their way, and a result like that is exactly the kind of thing that can turn a season around.
Final Word
A quick word, too, for CSC, S.C.S.C., Gullit Gang FC, Watan FC, and Barrio FC — none of them found the win column this week, but every one of them kept battling for the full sixty minutes, and in a league this competitive, that counts for something every single time.
With the playoff picture starting to take shape in all three divisions, the next few weeks are going to matter more than ever. If this is the level of competition happening every weekend across Toronto, Scarborough, Markham, North York, East York, and Pickering, there’s never been a better time to lace up and get in the game yourself.
