Week 6 Recap: Short-Handed Heroes, a Historic Shutout, and a Division 2 Title Race That Has No Chill
Toronto · Scarborough · Markham · North York · East York · Pickering | Week 6 Results & Standings
For adult soccer players across Toronto, Scarborough, Markham, North York, East York, and Pickering, the GTA Outdoor Soccer League just delivered its most remarkable week of football yet. In Week 6 alone, three separate sides played significant portions of their matches short-handed — and two of them won anyway. A ten-man first-year squad shut out the division’s most prolific attack. A nine-man Zaspani FC side held together a three-goal win. A nine-man Motion Boys were beaten 6-0 by a Slip City team playing their best football of the season. Nineteen matches. Drama at every turn. Here is how it all went down.
The Match of the Season — Division 3
FC Kudas 0 – Indy FC 2
Ten Players. First Season Together. Zero Goals Allowed.
Stop everything.
Indy FC arrived at this fixture a player short — only ten available against a FC Kudas side that had scored 16 goals across their first three matches and were running away with Division 3. FC Kudas were the top team in the division. Indy FC were playing together for the first time as a unit this season. On paper, there was no version of this match that ended the way it did.
And then J. Perera and J. Walkes scored. And the Indy FC goalkeeper and backline held FC Kudas — 16 goals in 3 games, the division’s most fearsome attack — completely scoreless for 90 minutes.
A ten-man first-year team. A clean sheet. Two goals. A 2-0 win.
There is no statistical framework that captures what Indy FC did here. This was a group of players who had never played a season together before, one man down from the opening whistle, and they produced one of the most complete collective defensive performances this league has seen. J. Perera and J. Walkes did the damage going forward, but the real story was the shape, the discipline, and the belief of every single player on that pitch — ten of them covering the ground that eleven could not.
Indy FC are now 3rd in Division 3 with 9 points and an unbeaten record. FC Kudas remain 1st on 9 points but will spend this week reviewing what happened — and when a team of this quality reviews a result, the response is typically pointed. Division 3 is officially wide open.
Division 1: Slip City Take Aim at the Top
Slip City FC 6 – Motion Boys 0
Nine Players. Six Goals Conceded. Context Changes Everything.
Here is the full picture of this result, because the scoreline alone does not do it justice.
Motion Boys took the field with only nine players. Nine. Against a Slip City side that came in hungry for points and delivered one of the most clinical performances of their season. C. Douglas scored three times. D. Grierson bagged a brace. M. Stanley added one more in a 6-0 result that, while emphatic on the scoresheet, needs to be understood in its proper context.
Motion Boys were already undermanned before a ball was kicked. Running a full match with nine players against a full-strength opponent is an extraordinary physical ask, and this group stuck together and competed for 90 minutes under genuinely difficult circumstances. Their season record — 14 goals scored across four matches — tells you exactly what this side is capable of when everyone is available. They will be back.
For Slip City FC, this was a performance that fully reflected their quality. Six goals, three different scorers, and a defensive clean sheet that pushes them to 2nd in Division 1 with 7 points , just one behind Zaspani FC at the top. Division 1 is tightening up at exactly the right time.
Zaspani FC 3 – Rouge River FC 1
Nine Men. Three Goals. M. Bidollari Does Not Care About the Odds.
And then there was this.
Zaspani FC also went into their match short-handed — nine players on the pitch, the same as Motion Boys — and responded in a manner that was almost unreasonably composed. M. Bidollari scored all three goals. Every single one of them. A nine-man side, their captain stepping up when it mattered most, and a 3-1 win that keeps Zaspani FC top of Division 1 with 8 points.
H. Jamal scored for Rouge River FC, who sit 5th in Division 1 on 1 point. Rouge River have the individual talent to string a run together — the pieces are there — they just need the results to start reflecting the effort they bring each week.
Bidollari’s hat-trick while nine-man deserves its own paragraph. He has now been one of the most consistent individual performers in Division 1 across the entire season.
Division 2: Alianza Answer Every Question at Once
We Dem Boys 3 – Alianza 7
Seven Goals. Zero Ambiguity.
Last week’s note was that the Division 2 title race had grown complicated. Alianza spent Week 6 simplifying it. Seven goals. M. Moise scored twice, Z. Abideen bagged a brace, E. Kayenga and M. Ali added one each, and A. Ahmed rounded out the scoring in a 7-3 win that pushes Alianza back to the top of Division 2 with 9 points and a +10 goal difference. This was a dominant, complete performance from a side that arrived knowing exactly what the moment required.
S. Gowrathanjan, N. Synowicki, and M. Sivanesan scored for We Dem Boys, who have now conceded 23 goals across four matches and sit 10th in Division 2. The individual talent going forward is not the question — 16 goals scored confirms that. The defensive end is where the work needs to happen, and there is still plenty of season left for this group to address it.
Bafana 4 – Stugatz FC 2
N. Oguono Is the Division 2 Golden Boot Frontrunner
N. Oguono scored three times — his second multi-goal performance in as many weeks — and M. Aristide added a fourth as Bafana moved to 2nd in Division 2 on 9 points, level with Alianza at the top. Oguono’s scoring record across the past two weeks alone puts him firmly in the conversation for the division’s top scorer. Bafana look like a side that is peaking at exactly the right stage of the season.
J. Mueller and E. Bembridge scored for Stugatz FC, who sit 12th on 5 points. This is a team that has produced outstanding moments all season, including that unforgettable penalty save in Week 4 — and have enough quality to climb the table in the weeks remaining.
Scarborough’s Finest 6 – FC Vern 1
Nobody Saw This Coming and That is Exactly the Point
Nobody had Scarborough’s Finest putting six goals past anyone on their bingo card heading into Week 6. F. Yep scored twice, with A. Bhatti, K. Liu, A. Cossa, and M. Perrella all contributing in a 6-1 result that moves Scarborough’s Finest to 8th in Division 3 on 3 points. Five different scorers means this was a full team performance — no one player carrying the load, everyone contributing. P. Kadam scored for FC Vern, who sit 11th. Vern have the quality to respond — one week does not define a season.
Sons of Pitches FC 3 – Gullit Gang FC 0
Sons of Pitches FC Are Quietly Doing Something Special
Sons of Pitches FC recorded another clean sheet and moved to 4th in Division 2 with 8 points. Two shutouts across the season. An unbeaten record at home. This is a side that does not give up soft goals and does not panic when a match is close. Gullit Gang FC sit 9th on 6 points and have now gone back-to-back without a win — a stretch they have the roster quality to end quickly.
Slime FC 4 – Azkals FC 0
Four Scorers. One Clean Sheet. Slime FC Mean It.
R. Cristancho, J. Calvo, D. Abrams, and J. Reider all scored as Slime FC recorded their cleanest win of the season and climbed to 6th in Division 2. Four different scorers in one match is a sign of a squad where the goals are spread around — never a bad thing when the fixture list gets tough later in the year. Azkals FC sit 15th on 3 points and will be targeting their remaining fixtures to build some momentum.
GSA Alumni FC 5 – Guanacos FC 1
GSA Alumni FC Are Building Something Real
R. Nassan scored twice, T. Rombos scored twice, and C. Kakaletris added a fifth in a 5-1 win that pushes GSA Alumni to 8th in Division 2 on 6 points. The two-goal contributions from multiple players in the same match reflect exactly how well-organized this attack has become. K. Gonzalez scored for Guanacos FC, who sit 13th. The effort and the fight have always been there for Guanacos — the results will come.
Unknown FC 2 – CSC 1
Unknown FC Keep Their Unbeaten Home Record Intact
S. Ratnaraj and T. Hooper scored for Unknown FC in a tight 2-1 win over CSC. S. Rajhkumar scored for CSC, who sit 14th in Division 2 on 3 points. Unknown FC continue to do things quietly and effectively — 5th in Division 2 on 7 points — and are one of the better stories in this division that doesn’t get talked about enough.
Division 3: Three-Way Tie at the Top
Metro FC 7 – Mad Lads FC 0
Metro FC Refuse to Let Anyone Pull Away
After Indy FC’s stunning result against FC Kudas, Metro FC responded with seven goals of their own. A. Dahce scored twice, with T. Beeston, J. Lucate, C. Thomas, R. Ferde, and S. Thomas all contributing in a 7-0 win that keeps Metro FC right in the Division 3 title picture at 4th place with 7 points. Five different scorers in one match. Metro FC have now scored 16 goals in four matches — a total that matches FC Kudas’ tally and signals that the Division 3 golden boot race is genuinely competitive. Mad Lads FC sit 10th on 3 points and will look to find their best form over the final stretch of fixtures.
Brill FC 1 – Toronto Phoenix FC 0
Brill FC Stay Locked In
A tight, hard-fought 1-0 win secured by C. Liddell keeps Brill FC level at the top of Division 3 on 9 points alongside FC Kudas and Indy FC. Toronto Phoenix FC, who stunned everyone with their Week 4 comeback, sit 6th on 6 points. This is a group that has shown the ability to produce big results — the Week 4 comeback proved that — and will be dangerous opponents for anyone they face from here.
Kroos Control 2 – Markham United 0
Kroos Control Finally Break Through
J. Bourne scored both goals as Kroos Control ended their scoreless run and picked up a first win of the season. Markham United, who had been one of Division 3’s most consistent sides in the early weeks, sit 5th on 7 points after this setback. The result gives Kroos Control genuine momentum — their first three points of the campaign, earned through a clean sheet and a two-goal performance — and makes them a different proposition heading into the rest of their schedule.
The Numbers That Matter
Division 1: Zaspani FC lead on 8 points, with Slip City FC and Motion Boys sitting on 7 each. Three teams. One point. This title race is going the distance — and the short-handed drama of Week 6 has made it even more intriguing.
Division 2: Alianza and Bafana are level at the top on 9 points, with Pique Blinders and Sons of Pitches on 8. Four teams within one point of the lead. The Division 2 title will not be decided early.
Division 3: FC Kudas, Brill FC, and Indy FC are all on 9 points at the summit. Three teams, zero points between them, with Metro FC lurking on 7. It is impossible to call and there are weeks of football left to play.
Final Word
Week 6 will be remembered for Indy FC’s ten-man shutout of the league’s most prolific attack, for Bidollari scoring a hat-trick with nine players on the pitch, for Motion Boys competing with nine men against a full-strength Slip City, and for Alianza’s seven-goal answer to anyone who questioned their title credentials. Across Toronto, Scarborough, Markham, North York, East York, and Pickering, the GTA Outdoor Soccer League has built something special this season — a competition where the standings tighten every single week and the storylines write themselves.
